Prof. Igor Kireev, Ph.D.

Igor Kireev Ph.D. is the head of imaging core facility at A.N.Belozersky Institute of Physico-chemical biology of Lomonosov Moscow State University


A brief summary of research

Prof. Kireev's team is combining various imaging modalities, including super-resolution optical microscopy, immuno-electron microscopy, live cell imaging and FRAP techniques to unravel higher order chromatin organization and its impact on functional state of genes. Being a part of core facility, the members of the team are also involved in a multitude of research projects ranging from bionanotechnology to developmental biology and histopathology.  The team is also implementing novel analytical approaches combining super-resolution microscopy and immuno-TEM in CLEM format.

Why use Nikon Instruments systems?

Nikon N-SIM and N-STORM microscopes have been basic tools to close the resolution gap between optical and electron microscopy in studies of chromatin higher order structure, allowing for fast yet accurate multiplexed imaging of mezoscale structures formed through DNA folding in chromatin. For a core facility it is also important to cover a wide range of imaging techniques to suit users needs which is achieved by high level of automation and flexible configuration of imaging systems.
