Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the continuing commitment by Nikon Corporation and its subsidiaries to behave ethically and contribute to sustainability and growth of communities while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families, as well as of the local community and society at large, with an aim to contribute to a better society and a cleaner environment.

The Nikon Group proactively engages in environmental efforts and work to protect the natural environment, as these are common issues for all of mankind. As a responsible member of society, Nikon Group is also conducting various welfare activities including support for areas affected by natural disasters, etc. and developing countries.

Nikon Instruments Inc. and Nikon Instruments Europe B.V., in particular, takes a special interest in supporting scientific projects which can benefit from its microscope systems.

  • University of Essex Coral Reef Research Project

    The Coral Reef Research Unit

    Nikon Instruments UK is proud to support the Coral Reef Research Project based at the University of Essex, also supported by Mitsubishi Group.  As a responsible company, Nikon is committed to protecting the global environment and to monitoring its impact on the natural environment, including issues related to climate change and biodiversity and we are delighted to be supporting this project.



  • CAP Foundation Haiti Relief Fund Task Force

    Re-establishing laboratory services in the wake of the Haiti earthquake

    Assisting the CAP Foundation Haiti Relief Fund Task Force re-establish sustainable long-term laboratory services, Nikon Instruments Inc. has donated five microscopes and helped to secure biomedical engineering services to repair out-of-service equipment. "Our goal is to re-establish laboratory services in Haiti that are sustainable for the long-term," said Matthew Zarka, MD, FCAP, Chair of the CAP Foundation Haiti Relief Fund Task Force, "Important steps have been taken to achieve this."



  • Mercy Ships

    Improving the quality of life for patients in West Africa

    The charity, Mercy Ships, has benefitted from the donation of the Nikon Coolscope, making an enormous impact and enabling the onboard surgical teams to make swift diagnoses and surgical decisions, according to Judy Polkinhorn, executive director Mercy Ships UK. “This has improved the quality of life for hundreds of individuals who have been ostracised from their communities with the stigma of socially unacceptable diseases.”
