Software control - Integration with NIS Elements
When precisExcite is operated under software control, such as NIS Elements, additional benefits are available for researchers wanting to carry out tests, such as time-lapse measurements or on Live Cells. On/off switching and wavelength selection can be made in microseconds. Reduced excitation times without mechanical delay can reduce unwanted sample damage and allow more frequent imaging without killing cells.
Exchangeable LED wavelengths (LAMs)
An attractive feature of precisExcite is that the desired excitation wavelengths can be selected from a range of exchangeable LAMS (LED Array Modules). Currently, there are eleven wavelengths to choose from: 400, 445, 465, 490, 505, 525, 535, 565, 585, 595, 635nm. LAMs can be exchanged in a few minutes and are automatically recognised by the main unit.
Crisper, damage-free images
As LEDs produce discrete wavebands of light, there is far less out-of-band excitation with precisExcite. This results in less background and can produce clearer, crisper images. In addition, the almost complete absence of UV excitation from the precisExcite light source means that samples are expected to live longer and behave more naturally under LED excitation.
Instant Control with intensity in 1% steps
precisExcite can be switched on and off instantaneously. There is no warm-up or cool-down time required as the solid-state LEDs react immediately to instructions from the control pod or a software instruction. Intensity can be controlled from 0% to 100% in 1% steps. Wavelength selection can be made by simply pushing a button. This makes precisExcite very convenient to use.
Stability and reliability
The intensity of conventional light sources reduces throughout their lifetime. precisExcite remains intense throughout its lifetime meaning that quantitative measurements are meaningful and time-lapse measurements are reliable. LEDs are guaranteed for 3 years. It is expected that they will last indefinitely.
