Corporate commitment in molecular biology

Nikon Instruments Europe is pleased to announce that the company has signed a three-year corporate partnership agreement with the prestigious European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory, one of the world's top research institutions, is dedicated to research in the molecular life sciences. EMBL is funded by public research monies from the 20 member states. Research at EMBL is conducted by approximately 85 independent groups covering the spectrum of molecular biology across five units, with the main laboratory in Heidelberg.

Mr Sumio Eimori, President of Nikon Instruments Europe commented, “Nikon is dedicated to providing researchers in molecular biology with the most advanced imaging systems possible. We welcome the synergy between Nikon as a corporate partner and EMBL as one of the world’s most prestigious molecular biology research institutions and are looking forward to a long and mutual relationship.”

The EMBL Advanced Training Centre Corporate Partnership Programme (CPP) plays a critical role in driving forward the EMBL Advanced Training Centre – both in delivering events and welcoming partners in organising their own events. In 2010, partners benefitted from Heidelberg’s convenient location, with events ranging from one-day seminars to intensive three-day meetings and also hosted the European Light Microscopy Initiative

At the official signing, held recently in Heidelberg, Peter Drent, General Manager, Nikon Instruments Europe, added, “The corporate partnership with EMBL will be of significant benefit to both Nikon and EMBL. Nikon has already established an Imaging Centre here in Heidelberg and over the next few years we are anticipating an interesting exchange of ideas in how advanced imaging technology can help progress molecular biology research and an expansion in our workshops and events programme.”
