TECHNOLOGY:
In a CNC device all operations are controlled by computer. Every operation normally carried out manually by operators can be reproduced by appropriate computer programs. CNC machines can perform many different industrial manufacturing tasks including measurement functions (with appropriate software) in process and quality control.
CNC has a particular role in the control of coordinate measuring machines (contact and non-contact) and is fundamental to automation and allowing machines to operate unattended. Highly repeatable computer controlled operations eliminate operator error, increase accuracy, and free operators to carry out other tasks. Measurement functions can also be carried out far more quickly than manual operations to increase work piece throughput and workflow. Appropriate software instructs the machine where to go and reports back data in a suitable format.

MICROSCOPE CONFIGURATION:
Nikon's Nexiv CNC vision systems are able to carry out automated measurement tasks. AutoMeasure software for Nexiv systems is a complete package that includes interactive measurement and teaching wizards, CAD interface functionality, shape analysis capability and data management tools. The software also integrates with shape profile, 3D surface analysis, and sophisticated report generation programs. Users can also program their own application software to remotely control the various functions of the NEXIV AutoMeasure on a Visual Basic 6.0/Net environment. By sending variables to the AutoMeasure teaching file, work pieces of different sizes can be measured on a single program.
